Venice, Italy

VeniceOften known as the "Queen of the Atlantic" and "City of Light", Venice is legendary for its network of canals linked by a string of 400 intricate bridges. A walk through the city reveals quaint shops and delightful piazzas, nestled into cobblestone streetcorners, while gondola serenades drift through the air. The cozy streets mesh beautifully with grand architecture, like the Byzantine grace of St. Mark's Basilica, the lavish decorations of the Palazzo Decale, and the rich facades of the Veneto Villas. Whether you visit the Accademia gallery or wander along the Rialto Bridge, the charm of the city is sure to enchant, and stay with you for the rest of your life.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

DubrovnikA historical city dating back to the 7th century, Dubrovnik is characterized by high medieval walls, tranquil atmosphere, and cultural events occuring year-round. The lovely seaside city boasts of many old buildings, including the Arboretum Trsteno, the oldest arboretum in the world, and the oldest European pharmacy still in operation. Its Old City was delcared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979, and contains a beautiful congregation of orange-roofed villas in a distinctive Venetian style. As George Bernard Shaw said when he visited the city, "If you want to see heaven on earth, come to Dubrovnik!"

Taormina, Sicily

TaorminaThe amazingly beautiful city of Taormina in Sicily has been a very popular tourist attraction since the 19th century. Nature and history have made Sicily a land of striking contrasts, and Taormina embodies the essence of Sicily in a vividly memorable fashion. Visitors to the town can enjoy splendid views of Isola bella, a nature preserve, and tour the Capo Sant'Andrea grottos. Just a short drive away along the coast lies Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano, which is a great draw to tourists year-round. With an intense, bold palette of tropical blues and greens, the view from Taormina may be described as nothing short of spectacular.

Sorrento, Italy

SorrentoSerene, sun-lit Sorrento sits on the western coast of Italy, amidst cliffs flowing with cascades of pink blossoms. Overlooking the bay of Naples, the city is just short distance from the city with the same name. Highlights of the region include the gorgeous Amalfi Coast, with vibrant seaside views from high atop its sheer cliffs, and the pristine waters of the Bay of Ieranto, now a protected area by the Italian National Trust. Those with a mind for history and archeology can visit the nearly ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the twin cities preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius nearly two thousand years ago. Or, visitors can relax and simply bask in the lanquid, tranquil character of this charming town.

Rome/Civitavecchia, Italy

RomeFounded in the 2nd century by Emperor Trajan, Civitavecchia is noted today for its fine seafood and attractive monuments, including the massive Forte Michaelangelo, the Rocca, and the Cathedral of Saint Francesco d'Assisi. The city is also a mere 50 miles away from the Eternal City of Rome, capital of Italy, seat of the Roman Empire, and for many centuries the focal point of Western civilization. Steeped with history by its 2,500 year lifespan, Rome is home to such landmarks as the Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, the Spanish Steps, and hundreds of other remarkable destinations. To spend a day in Rome is to truly stand in a place of monumental origins and sweeping changes, a fulcrum of civilization.

Florence/Livorno, Italy

FlorenceLivorno was founded in the 15th century as a gateway to Italy's Tuscan region and its many beautiful sights; including the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the medieval village of Lucca, the hill town of San Gimignano, and the city of Florence. Cradle of the Italian Renaissance, Florence is suffused with culture, art, history, and grace in a way few other places can match. The wonders of the Renaissance can still be seen in its magnificent architecture and art, including works by Raphael, da Vinci, Botticelli, and Michaelangelo. Of particular highlight is the world-renowned Uffizi Gallery, which houses one of the world's finest collections of work by classic Tuscan and Florentine artists. Florence is a city such grandeur and magnificence that first-time visitors have been known to swoon upon immersing themselves into its culture.

Elba/Portoferraio, Italy

ElbaElba is the largest island in the Tuscan archipelago, just off the west coast of Italy. Most famous as the location of Napoleon's first exile, Portoferraio is now known for its breathtaking beaches, enchanting piazzas, and archaeological finds. A stroll along Elba's coastline reveals sweeping views of the clear, sapphire bays and scenic, fertile valleys. Of course, while you're there you’ll still want to take the time to visit Napoleon’s gifts to the island, such as the Teatro de Vigilanti - a church converted into an Italian-style theatre, the numerous items on display at his former residence at the wine farm of "La Chiusa", and the museum of Demidoff.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

MonacoLocated along the French Riviera, our last stop in Monte Carlo is one not to be forgotten. As the capital city of Monaco, Monte Carlo has been a town of glamor for over 100 years. Its fame only increased when famed actress Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III, and their son, Albert II, now reigns. With its scenic shoreline and sunny countryside, you’ll realize that there’s more to see than just their famous Casino. Stops in Monte Carlo must include a trip to the Place du Palais, which houses more than just the palace, but museums, cafes, boardwalks, and many other items to captivate you! And, of course, there is our reception at the Princess Grace theatre!
