The Midsummer Nights in the Baltic
We are delighted about our next (34th) Theatre at Sea Cruise. Why? Because while we have made many exciting voyages, we have always wanted a cruise to the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg, and Midsummer's Eve in Copenhagen. And thanks to Regent Cruises, we're finally doing it!
The White Nights and Midsummer's Eve are two of the most extraordinary events we have ever experienced. We previously were captivated by the White Nights in Berlin in 1965, when the film that we produced, THE PAWNBROKER, won the Berlin Film Festival. All during the Festival were the White Nights, where the sun never really sets and where, at one in the morning, it is still light outside.
This extraordinary change in nature has an incredible impact on people. We are so accustomed to being told from infancy that we must sleep because it's nighttime. This has somehow been ingrained in us, but when there is no night, then we never have to go to bed!
And some childish impulse in us, or some impulse of nature, makes this terribly exciting. Instead of leading one's usual life after dinner, the White Nights fill one's heart with joy, and give one a wild sense of exuberance. And now we are going to the White Nights Festival in St. Petersburg and Midsummer's Eve in Copenhagen on Regent's beautiful ship. And we will present seven nights of exciting theatre on board during the voyage. And we can see an exciting musical performance in St. Petersburg!
Here are the details. We hope you can join us on the glorious Regent Voyager, a delightful six-star, 700-passenger ship. The prices are higher than our other cruises because the ship is so luxurious. There is no more enjoyable ship in the world than the Regent Voyager!
